SMILE CARES TRUST
INTRODUCTION TO SMILE CARES TRUST
SMILE CARES, became a reality on the 15th day of December 2003 with a vision and mission to serve
humanity which was a great commission given to us.
SMILE CARES, was registered as a Non-Profit Charitable Trust, on the 11th February 2004. The
registered office is situated at No.20/2, 14th Street, Anjugam Nagar, Kolathur, Chennai - 600 099,
INDIA.
The work of Smile Cares Trust is to identify under privileged Children, Women, Senior Citizens &
Families in different parts of India with low Educational & Social needs. Smile Cares
single minded forcus is on providing quality Primary, Secondary & College Education to Children
& Social & Self Help Projects for Senior Citizens, Women & Families.
Smile Cares has thus far educated about 1000 Children with Primary, Secondary & College
Education in the last 17 years. The Schools & Colleges the Children study in are in
different parts of India. The age groups of the Students are from 4 years to 21 years.
These Children mostly go to Schools near their homes.
We have observed that the Students who have completed their College Education have very high level
skills & competence. The Children supported by Smile Cares are first generation graduates
from their respective families, and these are the very students who bring a big change in their
communities. By getting good education & by continuing in higher education, this will
break the vicious cycle of poverty & they will be the agents of development & leaders of
their communities.
The Social Projects for the elderly people is to give them a stable life & to make them
comfortable in their old age. Many elderly people are not taken care off & are neglected
by their families. They are unable to work due to old age and also health issues that some of
them face.
Smile Cares provides a small monthly pension for the elderly so that they could sustain themselves
with basic needs like food & medication. This project has been able to sustain about 500
Seniors throughout India these many years.
Smile Cares lends a helping hand to women who have very low self esteem about themselves. We
help them find it. These women are totally dependent on someone to help them meet their
needs. Through Smile Cares these women are given the encouragement & are motivated to know
that they are women of worth & they are capable of achieving great things. We give women
the opportunity to exhibit their talents in ways they are able to earn a living. For example
if they are good in tailoring we provide them with a sewing machine so that they could work &
earn a living.
Smile Cares is looking at building the lives of the people in the next 5 years & taking them to
the next level. We want to see Children & Families well established citizens in
society.
